Mario J. Paredes, Secretary & Treasurer

Mario J. Paredes is a leading figure in the Hispanic community in the United States. He has been on the boards of many not-for-profit organizations, including the Hispanic Youth Orchestra Foundation. Mario has also been involved as a founding member of other NGOs in the United States and has always been in the forefront of community involvement initiatives to help Latin American countries. Mario has also served as a White House appointee for Latin America under President Ronald Reagan and as Commissioner for the Charter Revision of New York City under Mayor Ed Koch. He was appointed by John Cardinal O’Connor, Archbishop of New York, as the Coordinator of the Catholic Hospital Health Care Network for the Archdiocese of New York. Mr. Paredes has served as consultant to the Latin American Commission to the Vatican and on the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops’ Committee for Justice and Peace.

A native of Chile, Mr. Paredes became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1975. He earned his Master of Philosophy at the Catholic University of Argentina and did postgraduate studies at New York University and Georgetown University.


 

Alexis thiele, director of programming

Passionate about design, Alexis' driving force is in the creative space. A forward thinker, with a background in the fashion industry and tech world, she has helped fashion tech start-ups in the growth phase and led various publications with art direction. Growing up dancing ballet at Teatro Municipal de Santiago, movement and music shaped her. A strong believer that community is what ties it all together, she thrives in team-oriented settings and helping others. Her entrepreneurial spirit has led her to start her own company, Millapani jewelry.

Alexis holds a BA in Architecture from Chile and a Merchandise & Marketing degree from FIDM in Los Angeles. She has completed gemology studies at the GIA institute.
